The Piano nominated as BAFTA Memorable Moment

The moment 13-year-old Lucy stunned commuters with her jaw-dropping piano performance has been nominated as one of the most memorable TV moments of 2023 at the BAFTA Television Awards.

The P&O Cruises Memorable Moment Award honours the impact of television in the UK and its power to entertain, inform and bring the nation together. Now in its second year, the award celebrates the TV moments that captured the nation and is the only honour at the BAFTA Television Awards decided by the public.

Last year, the nation’s favourite instrument, the piano, was celebrated in a new five-part series on Channel 4. Hosted by Claudia Winkleman, each week talented amateur pianists were invited to play on public pianos in London St Pancras, Leeds, Glasgow and Birmingham train stations, sharing their stories and music with the great British public.

This award celebrates the incredible moment when 13-year-old Lucy, who is blind and neurodivergent, played Chopin‘s Nocturne in B-flat Minor, leaving judges Mika and Lang Lang speechless and passers-by stunned.

Voting is open at www.bafta.org/moment until 9th April 2024. Winners will be announced at the ceremony on Sunday 12th May 2024.
